The 25-year-old is determined to bring trophies back to
the Etihad Stadium after a disappointing campaign and says the club are eyeing
both domestic and European glory this season.
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero insists the club
must win a trophy this season and is targeting the Premier League and the
Champions League.
Aguero scored the last-gasp winner in the club's 3-2 win
over QPR to hand City the title on the final day of the 2011-12 season, but the
club finished empty-handed in the last campaign.
Having finished runner-up to fierce rivals Manchester
United and losing in the FA Cup final to Wigan – a result which ultimately cost
Roberto Mancini his job – the 25-year-old knows it is vital for the club to win
some silverware this term.
"We need to win a trophy," Aguero told
FourFourTwo. "And there's none more important than the Premier League.
"We definitely have a team that can win the title,
and why not the Champions League, too.”
Having been in Manchester for two years, Aguero is well
aware how important it is to topple rivals United, but knows winning the title
will not be easy.
"Our objective is to keep fighting to reach to the
top, and if that means taking on Manchester United all the better.
"We know any game against them is a matter of life
and death for us, especially the fans, and you have to win it. We've got the
team to beat anyone and we're ready for the challenge.
"You can't win everything, Chelsea and Spurs have
good squads too, but as players we need to find the commitment to do things
better because we've made some excellent signings and have the talent to do
great things this year.
"We go into the season wanting to win
everything."
