Barack and Michelle Obama send a congratulatory message
to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, saying that they are 'pleased to
congratulate' the new parents on the arrival of their son.
Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton receive many
congratulatory messages on the birth of their little prince. President Obama
and First Lady Michelle Obama are among the well-wishers. "Michelle and I
are so pleased to congratulate The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the joyous
occasion of the birth of their first child," President Obama said in a
statement.
"We wish them all the happiness and blessings
parenthood brings. The child enters the world at a time of promise and
opportunity for our two nations. Given the special relationship between us, the
American people are pleased to join with the people of the United Kingdom as
they celebrate the birth of the young prince," the statement read further.
The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy on July
22 at 4:24 P.M. in St. Mary's hospital, London. The baby weighs 8 pounds 6
ounces. Following the arrival of his first son, Prince William released a short
statement saying that "we could not be happier."
The little prince's grandfather, Prince Charles, said
that he was "thrilled" on the arrival of his first grandson.
"Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild.
It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so
thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy," he said.
"Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone's
life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am
enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are
eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future," he added.
In addition, Queen Elizabeth II and her husband were "delighted at the
news of the birth of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby," according
to a spokesperson.
Celebrities joined the celebration via Twitter. Ellen

King of England!" while Kelly Osbourne tweeted,
