The Palace has released a statement saying that Kate
Middleton is admitted to St. Mary's Hospital after she entered 'early stages of
labor.'
The royal baby is going to
arrive soon. Buckingham Palace released a statement on Monday morning, July 22,
at local time, saying that Kate Middleton went to hospital with Prince William
to give birth to their first child.
"Her Royal Highness The
Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary's Hospital,
Paddington, London in the early stages of labor. The Duchess traveled by car
from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital with The Duke
of Cambridge," the statement read.
Former OBGYN to Queen
Elizabeth II Dr. Marcus Setchell will be Kate's head doctor. Dr. Alan Farthing,
who serves as the queen's current surgeon/gynecologist, will be present in the
delivery room too.
The baby will be the Queen's
third great-grandchildren. Princess Diana gave birth to Prince William and
Harry in St. Mary's hospital. Princess Anne also delivered her children in the
hospital.
The royal baby's arrival
will be announced after the queen, royal family and the Middletons received the
news. The announcement will be traditionally posted on an easel outside
Buckingham palace. The paper will include details such as the baby's sex,
weight and time of birth, and will be signed by the doctors.
"We wanted to retain
some of the theater of the notice. It is quite important to us that this is
done properly and with the degree of dignity that the event demands. This is
the birth of a child who will be in line to the throne. It is a rare occasion
and it is nice to be able to do it with some historical precedence," a
spokesperson said, as quoted by Daily Mail. "It is very important [to us] that
it will not be announced first on Twitter, although it will be announced on
Twitter in due course," the spokesperson added.
