Thiago Silva believes a Brazil-France final is a very realistic possibility at next year’s World Cup, though he also sees Spain, Germany, Argentina and Uruguay as serious contenders.

The Paris Saint-Germain defender, who has represented the Selecao 44 times, has been plying his trade in Ligue 1 since the summer of 2012 and has said it would be an emotional experience to face Les Bleus on the game's grandest stage.

Thiago Silva suffers injury blow

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

The defender will miss crucial Ligue 1 and Champions League games after being ruled out of action until November.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has confirmed that Thiago Silva has suffered a thigh injury, which is expected to keep him sidelined for an estimated six weeks.

The Brazil international suffered the setback during the Ligue 1 champions' 1-1 draw with table-toppers Monaco on Sunday and was forced off in the 16th minute.

The centre-back wrote on his official Instagram account that he would be out for around around six weeks on Tuesday, but Blanc refused to put a date on the influential defender's return though he accepted that his absence could have an impact on PSG.

Brazil 3-1 Portugal: Neymar stars as Scolari's men triumph

Wednesday, 11 September 2013

After the Canarinho went behind, the Barcelona forward set up the equaliser before scoring a stunning solo effort to put his side on their way to a comfortable victory.

Neymar was in inspired form as Brazil showed their strength of character to come from behind to defeat Portugal 3-1 at the Gillette Arena.

The former Santos man scored once and provided an assist, while also having a hand in Brazil's third goal, as the upcoming World Cup hosts recovered from going 1-0 down early on.

Raul Meireles, who had hit the woodwork six minutes earlier with a header, put Portugal in front in the 18th minute after capitalising on a defensive mistake from Maicon.

Thiago: Tough to snub Barca

Sunday, 8 September 2013

Thiago Silva admits it was difficult rejecting a move to Barcelona after revealing it has always been a dream of his to represent the Catalan club.

Silva, touted as one of the best defenders in the world, has been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp over the past two seasons, but has twice snubbed the Spanish giants in favour of staying with Paris Saint Germain.

Reports claim the salary offered by mega-rich PSG has been the reason behind his continued commitment to the club, and although he insists it is not all about the money, Thiago also believes there would be nothing wrong with staying for financial security.

Ronaldo's absence is disappointing, admits Thiago Silva

The 28-year-old has been ruled out of the glamour friendly but the PSG defender would have liked to have tested himself against the in-form Real Madrid forward.

The Paris Saint-Germain stopper, fresh from the Selecao's 6-0 friendly win against Australia on Saturday, had hoped to come up against the 28-year-old following his devastating hat-trick against Northern Ireland on Friday but has been ruled out because of tendinitis.

PSG set to anger Barcelona with Dani Alves bid

Wednesday, 14 August 2013

Barcelona’s relationship with PSG may again be tested, as the French club has lined up defender Dani Alves as the remaining target in the current transfer window.

Barcelona have seen their relationship with French club PSG diminish as the Catalan club failed to sign defender Thiago Silva, before also missing out on Brazilian Marquinhos, who opted to join the French side.

Now it appears that PSG and Barca will again lock horns, with French paper L’ Equipe reporting that the Parisian side are set to make an audacious bid for defender Dani Alves.

Chelsea turn down £35m Barca bid for David Luiz

Thursday, 8 August 2013

Barcelona submitted their formal bid for the Brazilian yesterday, much to the annoyance of Blues manager Jose Mourinho, who insists that the player is not for sale.

The Catalan club have made a new central defender their priority this summer and are likely to return with further bids. They have missed out on Thiago Silva, who has signed a new contract at Paris St- Germain, and are determined to land a top target.

Luiz is happy in London and signed a five-year contract only a year ago, but the temptation to play for Barca is also great. That does not look an option this summer, however, as Chelsea insist the 26-year-old is going nowhere.
