Ghana attacker Andre Ayew has been ruled out for two months after undergoing knee surgery on Monday.

The 23-year-old sustained the injury during his country's World Cup qualifying play-off second leg tie against Egypt in Cairo last week.

Appiah praises Keshi

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has congratulated Stephen Keshi for helping Nigeria qualify for the 2014 World Cup after beating Ethiopia 2-0 on Saturday.

Appiah, whose team face Egypt later today (Monday) in Cairo, go into the second leg encounter with a 6-1 advantage, having mauled the North Africans in the first-leg, is aiming to emulate Keshi by helping his team qualify.

Nigeria could face Ghana

The Nigeria Football Federation are reportedly trying to organise a friendly international against Ghana for the locally-based Super Eagles towards the end of the year.

The match will serve as a warm-up ahead of January’s 2014 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.

According to reports in Nigeria the Ghana Football Association is yet to confirm or turn down the request.
