Di Canio: I Won’t Coach Lazio While Lotito Is There

Former Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio has revealed that he will never coach Lazio as long as Claudio Lotito is president of the club.

The 45-year-old, who had two stints with the Biancocelesti during his playing career from 1985-90 and 2004-06, does not see eye-to-eye with Lotito after the two had a falling out over the former player’s political views in 2006 which resulted in club’s chief allowing his contract to run out.

Di Canio spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about the chances of him becoming Lazio boss and commented on the problems that current coach Vladimir Petkovic is experiencing.

Di Canio still chasing signings

Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio insists his summer transfer business is far from finished as he looks to add at least two new faces to his bulging Stadium of Light squad.

Di Canio has already brought in 10 new players as part of his Black Cats revolution but admits he is still searching for a midfield playmaker as well as a left-sided defender.

Ahead of his side's season opener against Fulham on Saturday, Di Canio said he was "99 per cent" sure of his starting line-up but stressed the importance of having competition for places.
