Bobby Brown Begins Serving 55-Day Jail Sentence for DUI
Thursday, 21 March 2013
Whitney Houston's ex-husband Bobby Brown handed himself
over to authorities in Los Angeles on Wednesday, March 20. He was taken into
Van Nuys, California courtroom to serve a nearly two-month jail sentence
following his most recent driving under the influence conviction.
"It happened without incident. He was quiet. He just
went in," a source inside the custody told the Daily News. The father of
Bobbi Kristina Brown appeared with his high-powered attorney Tiffany Feder.
Brown will possibly serve no more than nine days in
county jail due to jail overcrowding, time off for good behavior and credit for
"good time work time." Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve
Whitmore said, "The time expected, all things being equal, is about eight
days. But he could get out in a matter of days and go on electronic monitoring.
It's really tough to say exactly."
Lawyer Christopher Brown released a statement regarding
his client's decision to turn himself in as ordered. "Mr. Brown has
accepted responsibility for what occurred last October," he said. Brown,
who pleaded no contest to the charges, will be under four years of informal
probation and must complete an 18-month alcohol treatment program following his
release. "Mr. Brown continues to remain committed to his sobriety,"
the lawyer added. "Mr. Brown is pleased that the matter has been
resolved."
Brown was sentenced to 55 days in prison and four years
probation in February after being arrested and charged for his third DUI in
October 2012. The 44-year-old singer was pulled over for driving erratically
and was arrested in Studio City, California after the officer detected "a
strong scent of alcohol."

Murray can be world No.1 this year, says Del Potro
Wednesday, 20 March 2013
Indian Wells runner-up Juan Martin del Potro
believes Britain's Andy Murray can become world tennis number one this year.
The towering Argentine beat Murray in the
quarter-finals last week on the California hard courts and is looking forward
to locking horns with him on grass after confirming he will play at the Aegon
Championships at London's Queen's Club two weeks before Wimbledon.
"Murray is a big champion, he already
won a grand slam, he made the finals in Australia and he has everything he
needs to be at the top in the future," Del Potro said in a statement.
"He will be fighting for the world number-one
place this year and he can take a big opportunity in the grass season."
This year's Queen's Club field promises to be
strong, with Wimbledon runner-up Murray joined by former U.S. Open champion del
Potro and Tomas Berdych at the event starting on June 10.
Del Potro, who has taken a while to get used
to playing on the low-bouncing grasscourts, was a bronze medalist at the
Olympics staged at Wimbledon last year, and believes he could challenge for the
Wimbledon title.
"I have a fantastic memory from last
year when I won the bronze medal at the Olympics," he said.
"It was a magnificent experience for me.
I had never played at an Olympics before so it was a big moment for me and my
country. To win on grass at Wimbledon as well made it an even bigger moment.
"I think that if I play my best tennis I
have a chance to win a grand slam on grass, but it will be very
difficult."

Lisa Ling Gives Birth to Baby Girl, Jett
Saturday, 9 March 2013
TV journalist Lisa Ling, 39, and her oncologist husband
Paul Song, 41, welcomed their daughter Jett Ling Song on March 8 at 1:24 P.M.
in Santa Monica, California. The healthy baby girl weighed in at 6 pounds, 6
ounces.
The couple, who got married on May 26, 2007 in Los
Angeles, could not hide their excitement about the arrival of their first
child. "We feel so blessed that this day has arrived," Lisa told Us
Weekly. "We're nervously excited to begin this next chapter in our lives
with our little Jett."
Lisa's rep told PEOPLE that the couple could not wait to
bring the baby home soon, saying, "Lisa and Jett are resting comfortably.
The proud parents are enjoying the first day of parenthood and are looking
forward to bringing their daughter home."
Lisa once suffered a devastating miscarriage in 2010.
"I felt more like a failure than I'd felt in a very long time," Lisa
spoke out about her miscarriage on "The View". "When I heard the
doctor say there was no heartbeat it was like bam, like a knife through the
heart."
Fortunately, the special correspondent for CNN made it
through her latest pregnancy complication-free. Lisa told Kit Hoover and Billy
Bush during a late-October appearance on "Access Hollywood Live" that
her pregnancy was "completely normal" that it made her feel
"very, very lucky."
