Arsenal Targeting Unsettled AC Milan Striker

Sunday, 5 January 2014

Recent reports indicate that Arsenal might be set to bring Mario Balotelli back to England during the January transfer window.

Sitting at the top of the Premier League table just one point ahead of Manchester City, Arsene Wenger might indulge himself in signing a quality striker following injuries to Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner. Also, the Arsenal boss would want to ease the pressure on French striker Olivier Giroud.

Allegri: 'Milan-Ajax stressful'

Thursday, 12 December 2013

Massimiliano Allegri admits he “lost weight” with the stress of watching 10-man Milan’s 0-0 draw with Ajax.

“It was a long sigh of relief because this was an important achievement and it wasn’t easy to play against Ajax with 10 men,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“The lads were very organised and only ran risks on a few crosses into the box, while Christian Abbiati did well on his saves. Mario Balotelli took the team upon his shoulders, earned free kicks and held the ball up, so he was crucial.”

Adriano Galliani out, Paolo Maldini possibly in at AC Milan

Saturday, 30 November 2013

The saga that is AC Milan’s front office took a surprise, dramatic turn today with the abrupt resignation of Adriano Galliani. The Rossoneri vice president had been at the club for 27 years, a span that’s seen the club win eight league titles and five European Cups, yet set to take the blame for the team’s disappointing Serie A start, Galliani will end his time at Milan on the wrong side of the club’s political turmoil.

That turmoil had pitted critics of head coach Massimiliano Allegri against Barbara Berlusconi, daughter of club owner Silvio Berlusconi. With her father in legal trouble, Barbara has reportedly stepped into the political void at the club, targeting her criticism at Galliani. With Milan sitting 13th through 13 rounds, the 69-year-old appears to have taken the fall.

The AC Milan boss withdrew the striker after fearing his frustrations would boil over following a lacklustre display in the dramatic 3-2 defeat to Parma

Massimiliano Allegri admits he was disappointed with Mario Balotelli's performance in AC Milan's 3-2 defeat to Parma on Sunday.

The mercurial striker struggled to make an impact as the home side focused their defensive efforts on frustrating his involvement, with a yellow card for diving the sum total of his efforts before he was withdrawn for Alessandro Matri shortly after half-time.

Allegri: 'Unacceptable Milan'

Sunday, 13 October 2013

Massimiliano Allegri was furious with his players after Milan’s 3-0 defeat to Caen. “Technique is not enough.”

The Rossoneri played the friendly test in France this afternoon and were fortunate to keep the scoreline down thanks to the saves of goalkeeper Gabriel.

“It’s a shame, because when you play it should always be to get a result,” said Allegri.

Galliani: Glass now half full for Milan

Sunday, 29 September 2013

The 69-year-old Italian is adamant that the San Siro giants will be a force once they get all of their players back from injury.

AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has taken great encouragement out of Saturday's 1-0 victory over Sampdoria, claiming the glass is half full as far as the stuttering Rossoneri are concerned.

Massimiliano Allegri's men have endured a difficult start to the season, picking up just five points from their opening five Serie A fixtures.

However, injury-ravaged Milan battled past Samp at San Siro thanks to a first goal for the club from Valter Birsa, who joined from Genoa as part of the deal that saw Luca Antonini move in the other direction.

Allegri hails Milan response against Samp

Massimiliano Allegri praised his Milan side's response in Saturday's 1-0 win over Sampdoria following a poor run of form.

Valter Birsa's goal in the first minute of the second half gave Milan their first win in four league matches, and afterwards Allegri hailed a much-needed victory.

"We won a difficult and important game," he said.

"We needed this win after three matches with just two points. We also kept our first clean sheet and ran a few risks, aside from a header in the first half and some long-range shots we could have avoided.

Balotelli must behave like a champion, not a child – Allegri

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

The forward was sent off on Sunday and his absence from the next three domestic games has annoyed his coach.

AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has warned star striker Mario Balotelli to stop behaving like a child and start acting like a champion.

The Italy international was sent off in the Rossoneri's 2-1 defeat against table-toppers Napoli on Sunday which will see him miss the next three domestic matches, including a Serie A clash with Juventus.

Allegri, who told his January signing publicly to "shut up" following the game, has insisted that Balotelli must be given more protection from officials in future but accepted that the striker needs to take it upon himself not to react rashly and cost his team-mates.
