Mourinho questions Guardiola's ability at Bayern Munich ahead of Super Cup clash

The Chelsea boss has taunted his Bayern Munich counterpart before Friday's game in Prague, questioning whether the Bavarians will be as good without Jupp Heynckes.

Jose Mourinho has resumed his rivalry with Pep Guardiola as his Chelsea side prepare to take on Bayern Munich in the Uefa Super Cup.

The Portuguese coach was at the forefront of a number of tempestuous encounters when the two men were in charge at Real Madrid and Barcelona, with one infamous incident seeing Mourinho jab the eye of the Catalans' then assistant boss Tito Vilanova in the 2011 Spanish Super Cup.

The €37 million signing from Borussia Dortmund this summer is in line to face Nurnberg on Saturday while die Roten's coach is relishing a tough week ahead.

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has revealed Mario Gotze could make his debut for the club against Nurnberg on Saturday after being sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Bayern have recorded Bundesliga wins in the 21-year-old's absence, overcoming Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 and edging past Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0, a game in which Gotze was an unused substitute.

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer insists that Pep Guardiola "is not a magician" and will need time to adapt to his new surroundings.

Expectations at the Bavarians are sky-high following the 42-year-old's arrival this summer on the back of the club's treble-winning campaign of 2012-13, but Sammer feels people cannot expect Guardiola to replicate such success straight away.

The successful trainer is adamant that winning trophies is not the most important part of his job as his focus lies on making players better

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that he cares more about improving his players than about winning silverware.

The 42-year-old guided Barcelona to 14 trophies during his four-year spell in charge of the Catalans to become one of the most successful coaches in history.
